A) Choose a thickness of Wet Suit Triathlon appropriate t the water temperature it'll be used in. If it's going to be the warmest temperatures a shorty will suffice. If you need a wider temperature range, you may consider a spring suit. A 3/2 full length suit will be OK for all but the extremes of hot and cold, and if you're planning to be in really cold water you'll need a thicker full length suit (5/3 or thicker). If you cannot swim out to the breaking waves and swim back to shore without a surfboard then do not get in the water. Years ago all surfers had great surfing fitness and could swim very well. Today there are many people who enter the ocean who have no idea about swimming or even basic surf fitness. An old unwritten surf law states that you should learn to swim before you learn to surf. After you know where you are, begin to assess options for moving forward. Focus only on solutions. After you survey your situation, it's time to make way for positive solutions and options. Ask questions like: "What can I gain?" or "What contacts can I make?" Maintain a positive outlook regardless of the situation -- even if you do not immediately see the opportunity. Stay focused on the outcome you want and where you want to go. My friend hadn't repaired these small holes because he thought it would mean taking the surfboard into the surf shop to have it repaired. He would then be without the surfboard for a few days or perhaps he was just too darned cheap to have the surfboard repaired. Short boards are for professionals. They do not have the necessary balance for an amateur surfer. These are mostly for surfers who like quick moments and sharp turns. There is another type of neoprene wetsuit that has nylon fabric on both sides. This is known as nylon 2. The nylon 2 wetsuit is more durable than the smooth skin neoprene wetsuit. The nylon fabric will strengthen the wetsuit and make it easier to slip on and off. Neoprene wetsuits can be made using either one of two processes: chemical blown or gas blown. A chemical blown wetsuit feels softer and nicer. A gas blown wetsuit is more durable but it is also more expensive. Fourth, I like the full-arms style of wetsuits. I used to have a long-john style, which means it had full-length legs, but no sleeves. I thought the long sleeves would limit my stroke, but they don't. In fact, according to the manufacturer (Quintana Roo), the long sleeves actually help you go faster because it increases the water your arm "catches" as you pull through. It's really up to you which kind you get. Just try some out and see what you like best. |
